How To: Create a 3D Printable Stamp from Any Image

There are limitless ways that 3D printing can be used in K-12 education. One project that can be particularly fun for students is to create a 3D printable stamp based an image (your school logo or any image found on the Internet).

This is a great project because it allows students to get a better grasp on 3D design software (in this tutorial, we’re using SOLIDWORKS). Once printed, the stamp is something students can not only hold in their hands, but actually use. It captures the true essence of the idea of bringing student designs to life.

These same design principles can be used for more than 3D printable stamps. I’ve also seen this technique used to create cookie cutters / stamps for cookies – but you should double check that your 3D printer’s material is food safe before creating some of your own.
