[one_half valign=”top” animation=”none”]

One of the biggest barriers to upgrading a program or investing in new technologies is funding. Often we hear from educators that they simply don’t know where to find the funds.

Discovering grants you’re eligible to apply for can be a significant time commitment. The good news is there are a few good resources out there to help you keep tabs on everything, including and especially deadlines.

Here’s a short list of some of our favorites.

Grants.gov
Probably the most well-known database of federal funding opportunities, Grants.gov allows you to search by keyword, opportunity status (posted, closed, archived), eligibility requirements, etc. Because of the wealth of information on the site, it can take some time to dig in and find what you’re looking for, but it’s a comprehensive list for all federal opportunities.

GetEdFunding.com
GetEdFunding.com pulls from federal, state, regional, and community sources to create their database of thousands of grant opportunities, covering preK-12, higher education and nonprofit funding opportunities. You can search by topic (technology, TechEd), grade level, and a predetermined set of keywords.

eSchool News
This list of grant programs and new funding sources from eSchool News is dedicated to helping educators locate those hard-to-find technology dollars. Because eSchool News is a news source, new information is added an updated pretty frequently. They’ve already published the top 5 School and Educator Grants for the New Year.

District Administration’s School Funding Report Newsletter
This is a subscription based service that delivers timely information about competitive grant opportunities throughout the year. For the $450 fee, you get 12 digital and print monthly issues as well as occasional email alerts about time-critical grant opportunities that emerge between editions.

STEMgrants.com
STEMgrants.com features news and updates on STEM educational grants for K-12, educational non-profits, and universities. You can also sign up to receive their free annual Guide of STEM Grants, which outlines all the major opportunities available each year.

State and Local Funding Opportunities
State and county / school district will often have information available to you for grants based on your eligibility. For example, the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Grants Administration and Resource Development issues and Annual Grants Report and updates this list of grants available plus any relevant deadlines for all Maryland educators.

The West Virginia Department of Education Division of Career Technical Education is another good example of a department that lists relevant funding opportunities online. If you’re not sure where to look, ask your Department of Education.
