$2,500-$5,000 Grants for K-12 and Higher Education

The Dominion Foundation will award $1 million in grants to support both higher education and K-12 education throughout certain geographic areas in 2016.

For our customers, that includes:

  • MARYLAND – Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties
  • VIRGINIA – All localities
  • WEST VIRGINIA – All localities

While the Higher Education grants (up to $5,000 each) must align with business, craft, engineering, environment, energy or technical areas, the K-12 grants (up to $2,500 each) are focused on the study of energy and/or the environment.

Here are a few details worth nothing:

Dominion Higher Educational Partnership

Deadline: Tuesday, May 31 at 5:00pm ET

Dominion’s Higher Education Partnership grants, which are up to $50,000 each, are awarded for exceptional programs, based in part on having immediate benefits for students, the campus and the community.

Grant proposals must align with one of the target areas below.

  • Business: Business practices, accounting, finance, or economics
  • Craft: Welding trades, power line or pipeline construction/maintenance
  • Engineering: Chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, petroleum and natural gas, or nuclear engineering
  • Environment: Environmental sciences and study of the environment
  • Energy: Exploration of alternative energies or student-led conservation projects
  • Technical: Information systems, electronics, control trades, power plant operations, and electrical technicians

Your proposal must:

  • Represents innovative and promising ideas to teach skills or processes to a diverse group of students
  • Demonstrates careful planning and strong likelihood of success, including plans to sustain the project
  • Includes plans to evaluate effectiveness of the program
  • Provides practical application with strong student participation beyond the classroom
  • Ensures near-term benefit to students, the campus or the larger community

Dominion K-12 Educational Partnership

Deadline: Tuesday, May 31 at 5:00pm ET

Dominion’s K-12 Educational Partnership grants, which are up to $2,500 each, are designed to encourage and enhance the study of energy and/or the environment.

Successful grant proposals should:

  • Support environmental education or the exploration of energy
  • Represent innovative and promising ideas
  • Teach math and/or science skills
  • Reach a significant number of students
  • Demonstrate broad-based community support

The project description should total no more than two pages and should include:

  • Project description and specific learning activities
  • Targeted student population
  • Expected outcomes
  • Effective evaluation methods to measure achievement
  • Plans to sustain the program
