Last week we headed to Paul D Camp Community College, Blue Ridge Technical Center, Campbell County Technical Center and Wytheville Community College for some Plasma Cutting Workshops.
Each workshop offered hands-on experience with industrial quality CNC plasma tables from Arclight Dynamics.
The training covered graphics software that can be used with plasma cutters, with a specific focus on Inkscape since this is free open source software that works well with Arclight Dynamics plasma cutters.
Our instructors showed attendees how to download a gear file from geargenerator.com and add their own text to the gear and convert it to a stencil style text so internal pieces don’t drop out. Attendees learned how to import the file into SheetCAM and create the toolpaths for the plasma cutter. Finally, attendees learned to open that file in the plasma’s control software and set the program home position and run the job.
