K-12 Industry 4.0 Career Pathways Programs Are Taking Off

Industry 4.0 is revolutionizing the way companies manufacture, improve and distribute their products. Yet the Department of Education has identified Industry 4.0 as a priority within the skills gap that needs addressing.

In response those like the Virginia Department of Education have already prioritized sanctioning Industry 4.0 Certifications.

States, counties, and individual K-12 schools are reacting accordingly to create Industry 4.0 Career Pathways or update existing STEM and Manufacturing Career Pathways so that students are best prepared to join the future workforce. Robots (cobots), 3D printers, and a whole array of other Industry 4.0 technologies are taking over K-12 classrooms.

LJ Create’s new Industry 4.0 Career Pathways Program is designed to provide middle school and early high school students with an introduction to Industry 4.0 concepts and applications across multiple industry sectors.

The Industry 4.0 program provides students with the expertise they need to succeed at college, in industrial skills programs, and industry certification courses.

The aim of the program is to help students prepare for careers in a range of industries where Industry 4.0 skills are commonly used and increasingly required:

  • Industrial Skills – Safety; Quality systems
  • Industrial Equipment – Fluid Power; Robotics
  • Smart Sensors and Devices – Sensors and Smart Sensors; Data collection
  • Control Systems – Industrial Control and PLCs; Motor Control
  • Connectivity and Networking – Computer Networks; Wireless Communication
  • Data Analytics – Statistical analysis; Database Use

The program has a flexible structure for student study which includes a Core 45-hour block, and then can explore Industry 4.0 concepts in specific sectors.
