Ultimaker Launches the New S7 3D Printer

The latest addition to Ultimaker’s S-series of 3D printers is finally here!

In case you missed it, yesterday Ultimaker introduced the new S7 3D Printer. This new printer is similar to the S5 (dual extrusion, automatic platen calibration, end-of-filament detection and interchangeable print cores) but even better.

It gives educators the ability to print faster and with more accuracy, while also offering a wide choice of materials (more than 280! Fully enclosed with built-in air filter comes standard, giving you peace of mind in the classroom, and its flexible build plate (instead of a glass build plate) means students can remove parts easier, faster and safer.

Some of the new key features you’ll notice in this video include:

Integrated Air Manager
the S7 was independently tested to remove up to 95% of ultrafine particles from every print. Not only does this increase air quality peace of mind, but it also boosts print quality thanks to its fully enclosed build chamber and single glass door.

Flexible build plate
Skip using glue and remove parts effortlessly with the PEI-coated flexible build plate. 25 magnets and 4 alignment pins allow you to replace it perfectly – reducing the time spent using the UltiMaker S7 and increasing productivity. (The build volume of the S7 is 13 x 9.4 x 11.8 inches.)

Inductive build plate sensor
A new inductive print head sensor probes the build plate with less noise and more accuracy. And automatic tilt compensation removes the need for thumbscrew bed calibration. Together, these allow you to start a print and walk away – confident in a perfect first layer.

Out of the box, the S7 includes Ultimaker Cura software for print preparation and Connect software for managing the 3D printer. It also includes a 1080p camera to monitor the 3Dprinting process in real time.

For educators who want to add the Material Station, you gain 6 front-loading spool bays, plus automatic humidity control and material handling. This saves operator time, while increasing print success rate and quality. This is all included in the Ultimaker S7 Pro Bundle.
