Tuesday Tutorial: Model a Pumpkin in SolidWorks – Part 1

This month’s Tuesday Tutorial project is a fun Halloween-themed classroom project that teaches advanced 3D modeling techniques. This project is a bit lengthy, so we’ll be showing it in three parts.

In Part One, we walk through all the steps for creating the necessary surfaces, combining those surfaces to form a solid, mirroring a solid body, creating a circular pattern of the result, and finally tweaking the pumpkin design.

Stay tuned to next Tuesday where we will continue designing a fully 3D printable pumpkin. This will include cutting the top, creating a stem, and editing the appearance in SolidWorks. We’ll also include our final SolidWorks design files so that you can download and tweak to your liking.

What you’ll need:

Estimated project time: 2.5 hours total
