A lot of our customers have asked how to get their Creaform 3D scanners up and running quickly and easily.
It’s a fairly simple process, which is why we created this 3-part video series Quick Start Guide for the Creaform Go!SCAN 3D scanner. Although we focus on this model scanner, most Creaform scanners will follow the same process.
Scanning with VXscan
This video covers the initial setup, calibration, scanning and alignment processes, and basic mesh cleanup using a Creaform Go!SCAN 3D scanner. We’ll walk you through the process to:
- How to connect the scanner to the computer
- Use the calibration plate included to calibrate your scanner
- Scan a part using a rotating turntable.
- Clean up your scan data
- Align and merge your scans
- Prep your part for 3D printing
Align Your Scan and Generate Entities in VXModel
This video shows how to take your mesh data and align it to a coordinate system then create geometric reference entities that will allow you to rebuild your part in SolidWorks. We cover how to:
- Send your part from VXscan to VXmodel
- Align this part to a coordinate system
- Create CAD entities from the scan data
- Transfer CAD entities to SolidWorks
Rebuild Your Model in SolidWorks
In this video, we will reverse engineer our part using SolidWorks. We show you how to:
- Transfer the entities in VXElements from our mesh into SolidWorks
- Edit entities in SolidWorks that were transferred from VXElements
- Rebuild a fully parametric CAD model in SolidWorks using the transferred entities
- Demonstrate how to make changes to the solid model using native SolidWorks tools
- Save the file as a SolidWorks model or export as an STL for 3D printing
