Teacher CTE Resources

CTE resources can help teachers improve their teaching practice and enhance the learning experiences of their students, leading to better outcomes for both teachers and students.

Some of these resources aim to increase student engagement through hands-on, real-world learning experiences that can help students see the relevance and value of what they are learning. Other resources are more geared toward educating teachers and allowing avenues for networking and professional development so that you can be the most informed, prepared educator you can be.

Curriculum Development CTE Resources

If you’re looking for ideas, lesson plans, and project-based learning activities that can help you develop a more engaging and effective curriculum for your students, check out some of these:

  • CTE Online / California Educators Together – This website provides CTE lesson plans, activities, and projects for teachers in various subject areas.
  • ACTE Online Learning Network – Available to ACTE members, this is a database of CTE lessons, including state-specific lessons,  CTE research training modules, PBL lessons, and postsecondary guidelines.
  • Amtek Company blog – Not to toot our own horn, but we often publish blog posts filled with CTE project ideas, funding options, trends, news, and more.
  • Amatrol blog – This is another great blog resource that covers how to set up modern CTE programs within all career pathways, how to justify program budgets to administrators, and more.
  • Virginia’s CTE Resource Center – This is a hub for detailed information about industry-validated CTE curricula, including credentials, in Virginia’s public schools.
  • West Virginia Department of Education CTE Portal – This portal offers CTE administrator resources, instructional materials, course descriptions, instructor licensing, and student credentials.

CTE Certification Resources

There are several industry-recognized CTE credentials and certifications that help prepare students for the future. These resources help to train educators and students so that we are all working together toward the goal of adjusting to rapidly transforming workplaces and industries.

  • National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) – This organization offers training and certification programs for the construction industry, as well as resources for teachers, such as lesson plans and training materials.
  • SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance) – This organization offers training and certification SACA offers Industry 4.0 certifications related to industries using smart automation technologies.
  • MSSC – This organization offers training and certification related for supply chain logistics technicians (Production Technician, Logistics Technicians, Forklift Technicians, and Supply Chain Automation Technicians).

Professional Development Resources for CTE Teachers

Many CTE resources include professional development opportunities for teachers, such as training on new technologies or industry trends. This can help teachers stay current with their subject matter and improve their teaching skills.

  • ACTE (Association for Career and Technical Education) – This is a national association for CTE educators that offers a wide range of resources, including professional development, advocacy, and networking opportunities.
  • Advance CTE – This website offers resources for CTE teachers, including reports, state specific information, assessments, and training materials.
  • Amatrol Instructor Training – Amatrol offers a variety of instructor training programs, including those related to PLCs, HVAC, Industry 4.0, Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics, and more.
  • NOCTI – NOCTI’s professional development opportunities include onsite and webinar workshops with flexible scheduling. They cover topics designed to help new CTE  teachers and administrators adapt to their roles as well as other workshops that explore how to proactively use data for improving education and student success.
