Last week MakerBot launched the new MakerBot Educators program at the Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) in Orlando, and we couldn’t be more excited.
What exactly is this new program?
It’s an opportunity for educators to come together and exchange knowledge, participate in challenges and receive support and guidance from MakerBot.
We all know that many teachers have access to 3D printers but are still seeking ideas on how best to use 3D printing in the classroom. This program is MakerBot’s response.
The new community will facilitate creative brainstorming and sharing of ideas that helps teachers better implement 3D printing in the classroom. It will also help MakerBot better address the needs of teachers and students. They will ask for input on new products (like Thingiverse Education) and help with writing educational content (like MakerBot in the Classroom) so that these teaching tools are most effective for you. Win-win!
We know quite a few educators who would be a great fit for this program. Members are invited to join the MakerBot Education team in monthly missions, designed to increase student access to the technology, expand the content available for classroom use, and promote the benefits of design thinking and STEM learning.
Participating educators will receive a welcome kit, complete with exclusive MakerBot gear, and can earn prizes like extra MakerBot PLA filament by participating in monthly missions.
To apply, you must fit the following criteria:
- You are an educator located in the United States
- You have two projects published and approved on Thingiverse Education
- You have a registered MakerBot device
You can apply to be a MakerBot Educator here. Good luck!
