We love that SkillsUSA not only encourages students to develop their workforce skills but also urges students to take pride in their work. The competitions are designed to emphasize respect for the dignity of work, high ethical standards, pride in workmanship, and safety. It also gives prospective employers the chance to see potential employees in action.
We’ve volunteered at the Virginia State Leadership Conference and Skills Championship for several years now, and this year (the 55th Annual Championship) is no different.
This weekend Amtek’s Gary Daniels will head over to the Virginia Beach Convention Center to work with students on their designs.
2019 has several contests within the following clusters:
- Architecture and Construction
- Arts and Communications
- Health Science
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
- Human Services
- Information Technology (IT)
- Public Safety
- Manufacturing
- Transportation
- Leadership
- Hospitality and Tourism
Part of the Manufacturing Cluster is The SkillsUSA Additive Manufacturing Competition, which allows students to explore and apply promising emerging additive technologies that are increasingly used in manufacturing operations — like 3D printing.
This is where we get involved. We’ll be bringing in some of our best 3D printers for students to use and explore with during the competition.
Winners from state championships are heading to the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky June 24-28. Here’s what went down at the National Additive Manufacturing Competition last year.
We’re wishing all those students heading to Louisville for this years national competition in June good luck!
