Hybrid / Electric Vehicle

Hybrid and electric vehicles constitutes one of the most innovative and trail-blazing sectors of automotive technology. Current developments are opening up the need for mechanics specifically trained in this new and challenging technology. With electric power, electrical engineering and electronics will finally be the overwhelming aspect in vehicles.

Diagnosis and repair of a high voltage battery / Working on live HV systems (CarTrain)

Unceasing advances in the development of hybrid and all-electric vehicles continue to pose new challenges for the automotive sector. The high-voltage (HV) battery has long been considered to be a “black box”. But now, more and more manufacturers are also venturing into repairing HV batteries.

Safety Zone person training with electric vehicles

This involves lots of challenges and requires a special understanding of “overall systems” in order for proper work to be possible. Our training system focuses on the digitally networked CAN-bus battery management system in a traction battery and on the corresponding components.

Prepare students for the ASE L3 test

Especially in the field of hybrid and electric vehicles, this training system represents a clear enrichment of training and further education, as it forms the perfect synergy between practical relevance, high safety requirements and target group-oriented theory in combination with diagnostic tasks. Students work directly on a real HV system which in a safe environment.

CarTrain Diagnosis and Maintenance of a High Voltage Battery

Safely Teach Advanced Topics

The HV battery is constructed in such a way that it can be disassembled in order to replace individual cells and sensors. In this way, the HV battery is diagnosed and repaired in an action and practice-oriented manner. Particular focus is placed on system-critical situations that can occur in the event of a malfunction in the hybrid and electric vehicle. In particular, faults are dealt with that occur on the vehicle but cannot be worked through independently during training.

ESM 8 EVCS Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) have become an essential component of the electric vehicle infrastructure. There are different types of EVCS, such as Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 charging stations, with varying charging speeds and power levels that are dependent on the power available. necessary code regulations to perform installation and safety tests independently. The Lucas-Nuelle training system provides students all the essential knowledge regarding installation and safety testing. It is also designed to easily integrate into an existing smart building energy system.

Measurement and Diagnosis on the Electric Drive Motor in Electric Vehicles

The electric motor is one of the central elements of a HV system. The motor generates the necessary drive or braking torque that accelerates or slows down the vehicle and feeds electrical energy back into the HV battery. Due to the high currents flowing through the electric motor, it is exposed to a high thermal load and various disturbances or defects can occur. The HV specialist must therefore be able to identify and eliminate these possible faults.

CarTrain High Voltage and Air Conditioning Training System

the training system focuses on the subject of high-voltage drives, systems for intrinsic safety and high-voltage air-conditioning systems.Trainees get the chance to make measurements directly on the traction motor without any contact, which is a huge benefit to safety. It is also possible to acquire an understanding of the pilot line or insulation monitor by carrying out measurements on them.

CarTrain High Voltage and Air Conditioning Training System

Where the system really adds value is based on the fact that it includes an authentic, operational high-voltage air-conditioning system. This makes it possible to see the individual components of the system and to carry out the kind of servicing on them commonly done in modern repair shops. Trainees can record communication between system components on both the CAN bus and the LIN bus. Moreover, the training system is designed in such a way that the risk of hazards can be eliminated at all times.

Includes

  • Non-brand-specific training system
  • Combined apparatus for the topics of hybrid drives and high-voltage air conditioning systems in motor vehicles, set up on its own mobile experiment trolley
  • Fully operational high-voltage air conditioning system made with original vehicle components
  • Fully operational power electronics for controlling built-in working drive motor
  • Interactive training course on DVD with LabSoft browser, course software and additional virtual instruments, instructions and test questions. All test questions can be evaluated by means of a software module.

HEV/EV First Responder Safety Trainer

Training and Qualification of First Responders

Lucas-Nuelle has developed a unique training concept for first responders. The learning bundle contains perfectly tailored hardware that can be used to acquire important skills for a real rescue mission.

The accompanying eLearning course supports the hardware and provides all the necessary information about rescue cards, dealing with burning HV batteries, methods for shutting down the HV system, damaged cars and much more.

Perfectly rounding off this package are the integrated accident scenarios. For example, a HV battery that is heating up can be simulated, which the rescue forces can capture with a thermal camera and thus optimally assess the situation in order to initiate appropriate countermeasures immediately.
