New FDM Materials for Additive Manufacturing

Stratasys recently introduced two new FDM thermoplastics – and opened up access for another FDM thermoplastic to be used on the F370 3D printer.

What does that mean for educators? Let’s take a closer look at the new materials.

Diran 410MF07, Tough Nylon with Low Friction

The newly announced Diran 410MF07 is is a durable, nylon-based thermoplastic. It delivers the toughness often required in manufacturing environments but unlike some other thermoplastics, results in parts with a smooth, lubricious feel.

That this smooth surface has a very low surface friction which is great when movement between parts is needed. It’s toughness makes it ideal for manufacturing tooling applications and its slick surface offers low sliding resistance against other tools or parts.

Antero 840CN03, Adding ESD to Antero Family

Serving as a lighter weight alternative to metal, Antero 840CN03 is an FDM thermoplastic that offers strength, heat and chemical resistance in addition to toughness.

This offering is an addition to Stratasys’ Antero material family based on Kepstan® PEKK. It adds static dissipative (ESD) capabilities to Antero’s physical and mechanical attributes.

Antero 840CN03 essentially allows users can 3D print manufacturing tools and parts for static-sensitive applications. The applications are vast from making hatch covers for the next generation of spacecraft or enlisting a faster, less costly way to engineer tools in the production of electronic components.

ABS-ESD7,  Now Available for the Stratasys F370 3D Printer

In addition to launching Diran 410MF07 and Antero 840CN03, Stratasys now offers ABS-ESD7 on the F370 3D printer.

ABS-ESD7 provides all the benefits of ABS – high impact resistance and flexural strength – with ESD performance. This is great news for educators who already enjoy the easy-to-use, plug-and-play capabilities of a workhorse 3D printer like the F370.

ABS-ESD7 lowers the cost and speed the production of jigs, fixtures, prototypes and production parts that also need the security of ESD protection.
