ENGINEERING, DESIGN & FABRICATION guide

Welcome back!

As we begin yet another new school year, I’ve thought a lot about the questions I’m most often asked about for growing educational programs or building entirely new programs of study.

The one constant for any program – be it science, engineering or even arts focused – is the ability to envision what success looks like and examine carefully how your investments will map to that success.

Too often schools pick up the latest fad technology without fully understanding how it will have a meaningful impact on student success. As you head into the fall, consider the objectives of your program and think critically about what you will need to achieve them.

Read on for more advice and to learn about what we’ve been up to here at Amtek Company.

And feel free to reach out and let me know what’s new in your world. I’d love hear from you.

From STEM to STEAM: Connect the Dots with Direct-to-Garment Printing

Consider how students think about their design process in traditional science, technology and engineering classrooms. How can we help them think in a new way?

Direct-to-garment printing is a fun technology making its way into graphic arts, multimedia, and Technology Education classrooms because it allows students to explore their creative side in a new way.

Make Your Face in a Vase!

In this video tutorial, you’ll learn how to design a vase in SolidWorks that is based on a face.

We use Abe Lincoln, but you can use this same technique for any face!

We’ll walk through importing a picture into SolidWorks and tracing the profile, then revolving and shelling it.

Why SOLIDWORKS Certification for Students Is Important

SOLIDWORKS is the industry standard for CAD design which is why we advise teachers learn how to adequately prepare their students to get their certifications before they graduate.

Why is the certification so valuable?

Resume building, confidence boosting and limitless job possibilities just to name a few reasons.

What’s New in
Civil Engineering Education

As expectations for the civil engineering job market continue to skyrocket, we’ll continue to see an influx of students interested in these programs. As classroom sizes grow and technology continues to evolve, these programs will need to adapt.

We’re already seeing changes at community colleges and universities in several ways. Amtek’s Rich Sykes examines what’s new with materials testing, structures, sustainability and more.
