Smart Factory Tabletop Mechatronics Training System
Model Number: 87-TMS
Teach smart automation, IIoT, and mechatronics with a compact multi-station Industry 4.0 learning system.
Overview
Amatrol’s Smart Factory Tabletop Mechatronics training system provides a convenient option for critical Smart Factory training when training space is too limited for the full Smart Factory Mechatronics line. In particular, the Smart Factory Tabletop Mechatronics training system is a fantastic way to introduce Industry 4.0 training to students.
Amatrol’s Smart Factory Tabletop Mechatronics training system consists of five stations that connect with Amatrol’s Portable PLC Troubleshooting Learning System – AB Compact Logix (990-PABCL1F), which shows performance analysis of the system via I/O Link. Performance analysis information includes transmitter pressure, photoeye signal strength, material type for parts passing through the system, RFID tag output, and more. This system uses a selection of Rockwell Automation products to provide the most realistic industrial experience. The system also includes Smart Factory components for Ethernet, RFID/sensors, barcode, and more.
Amatrol’s Smart Factory Tabletop Mechatronics Learning System combines technology from the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), such as smart sensors, cloud-based software, I/O Link, and mobile apps, with traditional mechatronics equipment. This hands-on equipment and corresponding eLearning curriculum will upskill future and current workforce members to the cutting edge of manufacturing technology.

- Work with five connected stations covering smart sensors, barcode reading, Ethernet networking, visual communications, and manufacturing execution
- Use I/O Link performance analysis to monitor transmitter pressure, photoeye signal strength, material type, RFID tag output, and other production data
- Connect, operate, measure, and analyze inductive and capacitive proximity sensors
- Operate and program RFID systems, including PLC projects and I/O Link master integration
- Build and configure industrial Ethernet networks, assign IP addresses, and transfer PLC programs over the network
- Operate cloud-based data acquisition and maintenance management tools, including production statistics displays and maintenance messaging
- Practice robot material handling with the optional FANUC robot station by retrieving parts from sliding chutes and placing them into a gravity feeder or workstation bins
Curriculum
Smart Factory Tabletop Mechatronics is part of Amatrol’s Industry 4.0 Fundamentals (I4F) multi-course program, designed to introduce students to Industry 4.0 and prepare them to pursue careers related to Industry 4.0 technologies. The program is divided into four courses: Introduction to Mechatronics, Industrial Control Systems, Robot Operations and Programming, and Industrial Internet of Things.
- Ethernet: industrial networks, Ethernet IP addresses, network performance, managed switch Ethernet, and switch diagnostics
- Barcode Reader: barcode operation, scan accuracy, Ethernet-to-serial interface, barcode programming, and function blocks
- Smart Sensors: RFID programming and operation, photoelectric sensors, and pressure/vacuum sensors
- Visual Communication: cloud-based data acquisition, SCADA operation, configuring cloud-based SCADA, maintenance management operation, and configuring maintenance management
- Manufacturing Execution: order entry, scheduling, schedule status, production statistics, and alarms
- PLC Troubleshooting: controller operations, PLC program operations, PLC I/O testing, event sequencing, and processor troubleshooting
Amatrol’s eLearning combines in-depth theoretical knowledge with practical skills through a highly interactive multimedia format that includes text with voiceovers, pictures, videos, 3D animations, quizzes, and exercises. Delivery through a web-based Learning Management System supports anytime, anywhere, self-paced learning.
