Topics Covered

  • Basic hydrostatic training principles
  • Level measurement using a column of water
  • Installation of process field instruments
  • Calibration of process field instruments
  • Maintenance of process field instruments
  • Instrumentation control principles
  • Creation of basic process loops for level control

Hands-On Training

This working, large-scale fluid process system gives learners direct experience with hydrostatic level measurement and process control using a real column of water. The workstation includes a 3-gallon clear acrylic tank, a 15-gallon reservoir, clear PVC piping, and a 1/4 HP centrifugal pump for realistic operation.

Its open architecture allows instruments from many manufacturers to be installed at multiple locations on the system and tank using quick-connect fittings. Learners can practice installing, calibrating, and maintaining field instruments, as well as building basic level-control loops with optional or user-supplied equipment.

Curriculum

The integrated course includes eight hands-on exercises and learning activities focused on instrumentation principles. Activities may be delivered in self-paced or instructor-led formats and include background information on each topic, hands-on experiments, and related review questions.

An optional Student Training Manual is available to enhance learning by compiling the technical content from the learning objectives into a perfectly bound book.
