Last week we headed to John Tyler Community College and Wytheville Community College for a couple days of experience with EMCO CNC machines and Siemens CNC Certification.
It’s been a couple years since we embarked on this type of workshop so we thought it was a good time to revisit and update our customers on what’s new in the field. Experts from EMCO and Siemens joined us for the instruction.
We talked about all the CNC machines EMCO has to offer, including the benefits of 5-axis CNC machining centers for educational environments. With a 5-axis center, you’re looking at a single set-up that allows for the complete machining of complex, highly precise workpieces.
Though in the case of EMCO, that doesn’t mean a machining center that is too complex for education. EMCO’s systems are uniquely suited for education because of their ease-of-use and included safety features.
We also spent a good portion of the workshop learning about the Siemens Lifelong Educational Advantage Program (L.E.A.P.) and CNC machining certifications for students. Siemens LEAP Certification gives students a career-enabling, basic-to-advanced, machine tool knowledge foundation — and is nationally recognized.
It covers the SINUMERIK CNC technology platform, which workshop attendees got to test drive with us. Attendees had the opportunity to set up and program turning or milling jobs through Siemens’ user interfaces, ShopTurn and ShopMill. Here are some photos from our events:
